The Historical Thinking Project is an educational initiative, currently the major focus for the Centre for the Study of Historical Consciousness. The initiative was designed to foster a new approach to history education — with the potential to shift how teachers teach and how students learn, in line with recent international research on history learning. We have annual meetings, provide workshops, print and web-based resources, and professional development through summer institutes.
The Historical Thinking Project involves most provincial ministries of education, most provincial history and social studies teachers associations, faculties of education and many exemplary teachers, museum educators and public historians across Canada. We acknowledge the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage, Canadian Studies Program, and The History Education Network/Histoire et Éducation en Réseau (THEN/HiER)
